When Will I Receive My Kitten?

Our Bengal kittens are ready to be adopted between 8 – 12 weeks, depending on your expectations. By 8 weeks, the kittens will have still developing immune systems …but strong enough to stop breast feeding. They will be well socialized with other kittens and quite well socialized with people. They will also be litterbox trained

We recommend that kittens not be spayed/neutered before 6-12 months to allow for proper development. However if you wish to have your kitten fixed before adopting, this could be done at 12 weeks or later.

Delivery

We’re located in Madoc, ON. You are more than welcome to come pick up your kitten in person. We travel to Toronto weekly, so picking up your kitten in Toronto is a convenient choice. If you live abroad, we can also help you work out the details for safely transporting your kitten to your town/city/country.

Either way, we take great care to ensure that the transition is safe & supported for your newcomer.

Preparing For Your Kitten’s Arrival

Safety & Bonding

The first thing your new kitten is going to want to feel is the safety of their surroundings and of their new caregivers. Kittens and cats in general do this gradually. They will be soothed by the assurance from you that they are going to be ok. Just responding to them with eye contact will allow them to start to feel settled and will begin the bonding process, which starts by ensuring their safety.
Once they arrive at your home, they will need a safe starting place to be. This should include an enclosed area for them to seek refuge. From this place they will gradually explore the rest of your home to ensure that they are safe. As they do so, they will relax more and more.

Activity & Attention

Your new Bengal needs to have activity and adventure. Some space in your home with scratch toys, towers, strings, balls, etc. They need to have the freedom to run & explore.

They also want to know that they are being cared for and are adored. Cats do not thrive when they feel that they may be forgotten, especially when they are young. Give them plenty of love and attention.

Bengals like to call the shots. Give them the space to allow them come to you. If they know they are safe with you, they will come to you often for affection and for play.

Generally Bengals are really good with other animals. They can be dominant, but if they have enough space they don’t go looking for trouble. They are fine with dogs so long as the dogs are fine with them.
